Pirates of the Ridge

We all have heard legends of a pirate ship or two.
Quite interesting stories but not many are true.
Have you heard of the great battle of Red Beard and Sir Blight?
They now are mere ghost ships passing only at night.

It all started with a  figurehead that was said to be lost,
and every pirate wanted her, no matter the cost.
The great power she possessed was known far and wide,
and every pirate craved that power on their side.

A figurehead is a statue placed on the prow of a ship
ensuring in rough waters the vessel won't flip.
She is said to protect from all harm that could be,
like storms, and pirates, and monsters at sea.

Now "Wind Goddess" was her name and as legend goes,
fell off of her ship, but why no one knows.
It was said she washed up somewhere on shore,
and her ship went down, to be seen on more.

I know that you're thinking, now how could that be,
a ship so lucky at the bottom of the sea?
What you need to understand is the ship was past due,
it could have gone on forever, but not so with the crew.

They finally grew old, and died off one-by-one,
with burials at sea under the Caribbean sun.
The captain was last and when it was done,
the last voyage of the "Wind Goddess" had just begun.

Now all Pirates were racing to her final resting place.
No allies around in that amazing chase.
Capt'n Red Beard and Sir Blight were the first to arrive,
and battled all night till almost none were alive.

"Ye best scuttle that ship! Savvy?" Blight had said to his crew,
"Davie Jones' Locker for them or the plank for you!"
"Hoist up the Jolly Roger and show 'em who's boss!"
"Aye, aye!" said the crew, "no matter the loss."

"Avast, ye scalawags," yelled Red Beard, "all hands on deck!"
"Load up the cannons, or find a noose around ye neck!"
"Shiver me timbers!!" Then said he at the cannon sound.
"They do be the filthiest bilge rats around!"

The cannon blasts and insults rang out across the sea.
BOOM, "I'll skewer yer gizzard," BOOM, "We'll plunder yer booty," BOOM, "ye nasty dungbie!"
"Ye lily livered, yellow bellied, chicken-hearted coward!"
On and on it went, hour after hour.

When all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there came a thunderous sound.
The shock waves could be felt for miles and miles around.
Up from the ocean depths, was a most amazing sight,
the ghost ship of the "Wind Goddess" in the moonlit night.

Sailing in ghostly glory, was the Cap'n and his crew.
The pirates tried to flee but there was nothing they could do.
You should have heard the pathetic pleas from Red Beard and Sir Blight,
as they disappeared under the waves, and totally out of sight.

The ghost ship took their "Wind Goddess" and vowed to keep her safe,
so they sailed her far way to an uncharted place.
They took her up on shore and hid her in a maze,
And safely she remains, until these very days.

But pirates are always greedy, even when they're dead.
The ghosts of Blight and Red Beard still want that figurehead.
They've made it to the maze, but now are stuck inside.
So be careful of these scalawags, you know not where they hide.
